The best place to spend Sunday is nature. And incorporating some physical activity, like hiking, is even a better way to spend your Sunday. There are so many benefits of hiking. Just like meditation it can be therapeutic. It quiets the mind, decreases stress hormone levels and blood pressure, just to name a few.
But, there are a few things to keep in mind. It might be obvious but you would be surprised to hear how many people wear flip flops while hiking. Flip flops and high heels are a no go. You don’t have to wear hiking boots, but your footwear should provide stability and ankle protection.
Dress comfortably and in layers. Choose soft and lightweight materials. On top I wear a vest, which I can take off when it gets warmer, then a hoodie, and than a t-shirt.
Make sure to take a bug spray, first aid kit and a knife. Not shown on pictures, but we always have sunscreen in our backpack. And last, but not least – take water and some food. We all know how important it is to stay hydrated. And after a few hours of hiking, you’ll get hungry for sure. So, pick a nice spot to sit down and refuel.
